The Haven was built in 2018 after us living here for two years in a mobile home taking time to carefully design the build and the grounds. The concept for the build was based on permaculture principles to be a low impact dwelling which worked well with the land around it to create a flexible haven for any amount of growing or rearing food, leisure activities, and hosting visitors.
The house is a cedar clad 'homestead' style building with a large covered raised verandah that looks out over the gardens and beyond, looking up and down the valley farmland and hills. It's a tranquil place to sit and read, do yoga, or watch the ducks busy in the garden.
The main feature of the house is the large central living space with vaulted ceiling with large wood burner one end and the electric Everhot range cooker the other. All natural materials and the MVHR give a peaceful and healthy feel to the property. The Tesla Powerwall is an amazing 'bit of kit', very easy to use and monitor!
The gardens contain outbuildings: Brick built small and useful building with electric behind the house to the north. A two year old wooden 'L' shaped stables and corner store block, near driveway, and a field shelter in paddock. Professionally installed post and rail fencing to the boundary and within the plot is sufficient for a pony or livestock.
The property's position is private (with few neighbours) and feels very rural yet the main town of Salisbury with good shopping, twice weekly market, mainline station to Waterloo, and the beautiful iconic cathedral, is just 20 minutes drive away. The A36 is just 5 minutes drive, from where it's easy to drop down into Dorset via the A303 or continue up the A36 to Bath. It's equally easy to go north east towards Oxford, Heathrow and the M25. The New Forest is also 'on the doorstep' perfect for a couple of days away camping/hiking etc.
Our reasons for selling are family and health related and we need to sell asap for a reasonable price.
The site has lots of potential, being unfinished, and is ready for the new owners to come in and put in their own style and finishes both inside the house and in the gardens. Some may be interested to know that is planning granted for a large lean-to style wood greehouse/orangery and also for a barn/garage on the driveway which would lend itself to being converted for airbnb for instance?
